During the middle of the nineteenth century, in the Deep South society were dominated by the white race and the old confederate ways of slavery and cruelty towards African Americans. When Mark Twain first published the book called “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" of the year 1885 there was a lot of controversy towards the book. When the book was published it made a lot of controversy against the believes of African Americans. Many people may still disagree that blacks were called with the N-word to maintain a historical realism and others may agree. During that period of time Mark Twain described how African Americans were treated and how they were uneducated. Africans were treated very disrespectfully because Americans had the control of blacks, especially slaves. Most of the slaves were blacks and had no respect from their owner’s because they were always told to do whatever the owner said. Also during that period of time Africans were recognized to be lower class Africans because of their low income. However, I do agree that African American were recognized by the use of the N-word to maintain historical realism during that period of time, but I also disagree because the N-word is a powerful word that can only be used by the black race.
The book of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn did made a lot of controversy during the 1880’s because it was the time when people were not treated with the same respect. If I were to be alive during that period of time, I would have bent offended or shy to say the N-word because I think is it a word that should only be used by African Americans. I would rather call African Americans by their names or nicknames but I would never call them by the N-word. I would not called the by the N-word because I am not an African American. Even though I am not an African I would still feel unrespectful to the black race because not everyone can use the N- word. Maybe for other races the N-word may not mean anything to them but for Africans it might mean a lot. Everybody has different believes and point of views about others. For example, when I see a Mexican trying to talk like an African American by using the N-word I get really frustrated because for me it is like making fun of a race. It was probably very frustrated and inadequate to African slaves when Mark Twain published “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” because the book made a lot of controversy amongst the believes of people.
For this essay i am also going to compare Mark Twain and peaches henry to see their points of views against the N-word and why its very controversial..
Summary from Henry peaches: She agrees that Mark Twain did wrote the N-word many times throughout the book to represent some type of realism, Henry even said: i can still recall the anger i felt as my classmates read aloud the word "nigger" because some white students snickered and some giggled. I also believe that Mark Twain did mark a great point by using the book but i somehow think that he was still being racist by the use of the N-word throughout the novel. For some people the N-word could symbolized a lot of things while others dont care ,plus some passages from Mark Twain were being very racist.
I think that my quote would be : "One has to be deliverately dense to miss the point Mark Twain is making here and to construe such pasages as evidence of his "Racism"(390).
I believe that the quote means that Twain was making a point across by the use of the N-word throughout the book. But it also makes me think that he maybe stated the N-word many times in the book as evidence of his racism. Maybe the quote is just saying that she believes that mark Twain is making the book to be more realistic with use of the N-word. I also think that the N-word should be edited, even Henry talks about how the book was removed from public schools because blacks complained about the racially offeninse tone in the novel.
the first two paragraphs are from my essay 4...but i am going to add henry's point of view and some quotes to my essay 5..

Blog #10!!!!
My thesis would be: that i agree with the thought that the N-word was very controversial when the book was first published, but i also agree that the book did represent historical realism.
but i also think that Twain was trying to make a point across by using the N-word throughout the book to maintain historical realism but i also think that the N-word is a pejorative term that should not be used.

I think that Mr. George Barish was trying to make a point across by painting his face black.Maybe he did it because he wants racism to be gone,,,some people may think that there is no racism anymore but i think that there is. I also think that he was making fun of our president Obama because the pictures i saw on his blog page for me were really racist. some people may even laugh by looking at the pictures,,and i dont think is respectful,,,,i think that Mr.Barish is crossing the line......Also looking at the comments that others are commenting also make me think that he is being racist.

Draft for essay #4!!!

The slaves during the year of 1885 were always unappreciated by their white race owners. The reason why blacks had no comment about slavery was becuase they had no option besides doing what Americans order them to do. Blacks were always less superior than Americans. I do agree that during the 1885 there was a lot of crutiality and racism against negroes because of the way were treated. Throughout the book Mark Twain uses the word "nigger" many times in which it makes the reader think that he is being racist against Africans. why not calling blacks by their names?? instead of calling them by the N-word. I think that it's a rude way of calling them eventhough during the 19th century it was another different era than todays. Now that we are in the 21st century slavery and racism are gone. Now no White race has the right to offend an African American because the times and eras have changed dramatically. Now blacks are treated with respect and dignity eventhough their still some racism, but not just against the black race but other races al well.
this is just some points i have,,,,,i really need help on how to expand my essay becasue i dont have a lot of ideas.
peers please help me i will appreciated.....
thanx!!

WHATS YOUR RESPONSE TO THE N-WORD IN THIS BOOK? SOME ARGUE THAT IS NECCESARY TO MAINTAIN HISTORICAL REALISM,WHILE OTHERS ARGUE THAT IT'S DEMEANING AND UNNECESSARY.WHAT'S YOUR RESPONSE? ALSO HOW SHOULD OUR CLASS DEAL WITH THIS WORD,SINCE IT'S USED THROUGHOUT THE BOOK AND WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THE BOOK?
MY RESPONSE TO THE N-WORD IS THAT MANY YEARS AGO THE N-WORD DID REPRESENT HISTORICAN REALISM, THE N-WORD ALSO REPRESENTED THEIR SOCIAL CLASS....BUT NOT RIGHT NOW IN THIS NEW ERA BECAUSE AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE NOW TREATED WITH MORE RESPECT,,,,ESPECIALLY NOW THAT WE HAVE AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT.
MANY PEOPLE MAY DISAGREE WITH ME BUT THAT IS WHAT I THINK OF THE N-WORD.
WE SHOULD DEAL WITH THE N-WORD JUST FINE,,, BECAUSE NOBODY IN THE CLASS IS GOING TO GET OFFENDED WITH IT...PLUS WE DONT HAVE ANY AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN OUR CLASS THAT MIGHT GET OFFENDED WITH THE USE OF THE N-WORD...BUT JUST TO MAKE SURE WE SHOULD EDIT THE N-WORD.

Satire is the use of irony, sarcasm, and ridicule,,,,
for me satire means laughing or making fun of something,,,,
for instace, an example of sarcasm would be "oh, you've arrived exactly on time" when your actually fifteen minutes late to taht certain place,,,,so i see satire as a word that makes fun of someting or somebody,,, i think is really unfortunate how people show affective examples like the one above, and it may hurt the one reseving the joke,,,,some elements of satire would be to show evidence in a piece of writing or even verbaly that demostartes that the piece has sarcasm or irony in it.

Well from my prespective i dont think that jim can be a minstrel becuase hes not a poet, singer or a comedian that performes from being white to black. just becasuse jim has the characteristics of a black man it does not means that he is a mistrel. many people think differently so people have many different point of veiw so i dont think he is a minstrel. I also think that jim has no double consciousness becuase so far in the book he is acting the way he is supppost to be acting.i dont see a double consciousness in jim.

For many centuries many citezens and illegal resident were praying for an election of a new president. A new president that will make many changes in the United States of America. All these past years we been having white male presidents and i am not against white male presidents but no changes have happened, plus the economy is going down and someone has to do something about it. Now that we have for the first time a colored president every one has more hopes for the future ,especially a better economy because if no changes happened during all these past years then now is time for a new change in America. I surely support President Obama because i know that he is going to make racism be a myth really soon. Eventough their is still racism in most states, having a colored president i am sure racism is going to be less present than how it was years ago.
Go president Obama!!
Go president Obama!!

EsSaY #3!!!
People are always being perceived in many different points of views that relate in Race ,Gender,Sexual orientation,Background and Ethnicity. All this aspects are being judge by others that might not know that other person that is being judge. Many people may not be comfortable of being judge by others because its not right to talk crap about other people. people perceive me as being short, timid, aggresive and white. and that kind off scares me because sometimes people are wrong and plus they're judging you without knowing you. I think everybody has their own personal life styles. why bother others in asking if they are rich or poor. I just think is really stupid because when people see you wearing something nice or elegant the first thing that comes up to their minds is "she/he is rich" then they start asking question like: where do you live? do you drive?. In the other hand when you see another person wearing formal clothes then they dont really pay attention to you and the first thing they think about is "he/she has nothing to offer". I think is really sad how people perceive others on what they are wearing and of how they look. people should'nt been perceived of the way others think of you.
During my high school years many strangers perceived me as being untouchable, preppy and inferior to the rest of the students. All these characteristics made me look bad infront of other people that i was getting to know. why well because i was not that person they were thinking i was. when my friends started getting to know me better i felt so much better because they were finding out that i was'nt preppy, untouchable or inferior to others because at the same time we are all the same people but with different tendencies. when you get to know somebody new in your life you think differently of them then what you thought the first time you saw them.
Geting to know new people helps you realized how different you are from what you thought you were. Most of the times people that hate you always talk crap about you with others because they want you to look bad with other people that dont know you. And those people that do that to hurt you they are the ones hurting themselves in the inside because they are jelaous of who you are. people that hate somebody else because of their looks should think of the wrong statements that they are doing insted of perceiving you with another person that you are not.
Race, Background, Ethnicity and Gender are also a huge aspect in a every day life. For instance, when people see me around they always perceive me as being white because i am white skin. but they dont know that i am a Mexican-American. But when people ask me questions they can totally tell that i am Latin because of the way i speak. And also because of my accent. i really dont mind what others think of my accent because i know i am not the only person that does not speaks "Perfect English" so i dont really mind of what they think of me. Also when people hear me speaking spanish they just look at me like if i was a weird insect and it amkes me feel sad and unconnected to others. I am pretty sure i look mexican just because i'm a white skin Mexican it does'nt means that i am an American. Many people see Race and Background as something huge in their lives because it determines if a person is African-American, Mexican- American, American , etc. Ethnicity identifies you of who you are from the inside and outside and people should not perceive you as being what they think you are without knowing you.
I am so confuse???
I dont really know what to write so peers help me please!!!!
Try to give me as much of advice as possible..please???

It is tremendously rediculous how people that published the ads of superman and barbi being fat are actually demostarting the ads to children. I totally think that is so not right because the children that are seeing barbi and superman FAT are going to get dramatized by the way they are viewing the pictures. I personally would not let or show that ads to any kid. kids are bearly developing their bodies and they dont know what is good or bad for them and by watching the ads kids can get really upset and depressed. They might n0t even want to eat because they might not want to be fat like superman and barbi. Also the way they pictures are expressed can cause emotinal expressions not just in kids but also in teenagers. For example, the way they are showing the Barbi with the laptop makes teenager not to eat in bes with the laptop.I thought it was funny how superman is sitting down watching tv insead of helping the "world" as a hero!!! I remember one day when i had to take care of my 2 nices cause my sister had to work on a saturday and then it was time for lunch when my 4 year old nice joanna told me that she wasn't going eat because she was going to get fat like her cousin monica.....i was impressed, I tought it was incredible how a 4 year old is already thinking of being thin when she has'nt even developed her body.

People should be more aware of they are buying because many people buy clothes that there are only going to wear ones.I think that is a waste of money. Not just because its expensive but also because there is a lot of other people that have nothing or little to wear...i remember when i was i was 11 years old and i used to live in Mexico my family was really poor and we didnt have enough money or food to eat. Also because we were 13 children in our family with out counting my mom. As a child i always wanted everything that other girls would have and i couldnt get it because my mom couldnt afforted the things i wanted and that made me really sad.I think is really sad how rich people dont care on what they are spending money on or have because they have everything they want. people are not using their own resources properly. And many people can get affected not every one has the same things others have.

Family Impacts
Essay #2 Draft
Now that we are in a new era television has improved a lot. Since i remember we did not have all the media and all the new technology that we have right now. We did have a lot improvement with our ways of communicating with others but not a s much as right now. Not just Television but also there is being a huge change in computers. But television can be more destructive in families than computers. Television can have many family impacts that can be harmful, not just in children but also in adults. For example, TV shows violence, drugs, aggressive behavior, etc. Children can get affected mentally by watching TV. I do think that television is a plug-in drug because while watching a show you can get addicted of watching it every day and even stay in the sofa or bed for the whole day watching different shows. I also think that by watching too much TV it can interfere with family lives and it can also keep the families away from interacting together as a whole.
In the essay of Marie Winn it also talks about how families are being influenced by Television and how children are being affected with physical activities. I do agree that children should watch less television or none.By watching TV children are not engaging in the activities they need for their bodies to be more healthy. Kids are not developing brain and body activities that they need because in a way it is their parents responsibility to not let them watch TV. Sometimes parents let children do whatever they want instead of playing with them sports, learning games and other active learning activities that are going to help them explore more skills that they need in life. I also think that watching Television is a waste of time for everyone. At the same time families are being separated from family activities physically and mentally and that could stop families from interacting together because without family communication the family could also fall apart as not being the same one as before.

The video about Elijah smith is really contriversial because i cant believe that in a elementary school children cant wear an Obama shirt because teachers and stuff think is offensive to other children but how is it offensive?. I totally disagree with the school principal on not letting Elijah wear the obama shirt because there are many Elementary students that wear other types of shirts that demonstrates and looks agressive and violent and the principal does not tell them or their parents anything about it. I dont think is fair what the school is doing to Elijah Smith. Plus he is just a little fifth grader that is just proud of having the first African American president of the united states of America. If there was a Mexican American president i would be so proud and happy just like Elijah. people have their own rights to make thier own desicions on what they want to wear because they are the ones paying for their own clothes not other people. I know there is dress codes for schools but in the dress codes it does not tells a student to not wear a Presidents shirt. So i just dont agree with the thought of not wearing an Obama Shirt because i dont see any agressiveness or violence.

My favorite song!!!
There's many songs that i like but the one that i like the most and the one that gets into my heart is called "Lagrimas del corazon" by Montez de Durango. As you can see this song is not an english song but i really enjoy listening to it This song really expresses my feelings towards my dad because the song talks about how to be able to get a better job in many cases parents have to leave their families and children because they need more money to be able to support them. Also because they want better opportunities for the future. For example my dad came to the unites states 40 years ago because he wanted to give us more money working at a job where he was going to get payed more then when he was in mexico with us that is why the song sometimes makes me cry as well cause it gets deep inside my soul.
