I think that Mr. George Barish was trying to make a point across by painting his face black.Maybe he did it because he wants racism to be gone,,,some people may think that there is no racism anymore but i think that there is. I also think that he was making fun of our president Obama because the pictures i saw on his blog page for me were really racist. some people may even laugh by looking at the pictures,,and i dont think is respectful,,,,i think that Mr.Barish is crossing the line......Also looking at the comments that others are commenting also make me think that he is being racist.

Draft for essay #4!!!
During the middle of the nineteeth century, in the deep South society were dominated by the white race and the old confederate ways of slavery and cruelty towards African Americans. When Mark Twain first published the book called " Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" of the year 1885 the book made a lot of controversy against the believes of African Americans. Many people may still disagree that blacks were called "niggers" to maintain a historical realism and others may agree. During that period of time Mark Twain described how African Americans were treated and how they were uneducated. Africans were treated very disrespectfully because Americans had the control of blacks especially slaves. Most of the slaves were blacks and had no respect from their owners becuase they were always told to do whatever the owner said. Also during that period of time Africans were recognized to be lower class "niggers". I do agree that African American were called "niggers" to maintain historical realism during that period of time, but i also disagree because the N-word is a powerful word that can only be used by the black race.

The reason why blacks had no comment about slavery was becuase they had no option besides doing what Americans order them to do. Blacks were always less superior than Americans. I do agree that during the 1885 there was a lot of crutiality and racism against negroes because of the way were treated. Throughout the book Mark Twain uses the word "nigger" many times in which it makes the reader think that he is being racist against Africans. why not calling blacks by their names?? instead of calling them by the N-word. I think that it's a rude way of calling them eventhough during the 19th century it was another different era than todays. Now that we are in the 21st century slavery and racism are gone. Now no White race has the right to offend an African American because the times and eras have changed dramatically. Now blacks are treated with respect and dignity eventhough their still some racism, but not just against the black race but other races al well.
this is just some points i have,,,,,i really need help on how to expand my essay becasue i dont have a lot of ideas.

WHATS YOUR RESPONSE TO THE N-WORD IN THIS BOOK? SOME ARGUE THAT IS NECCESARY TO MAINTAIN HISTORICAL REALISM,WHILE OTHERS ARGUE THAT IT'S DEMEANING AND UNNECESSARY.WHAT'S YOUR RESPONSE? ALSO HOW SHOULD OUR CLASS DEAL WITH THIS WORD,SINCE IT'S USED THROUGHOUT THE BOOK AND WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THE BOOK?
MY RESPONSE TO THE N-WORD IS THAT MANY YEARS AGO THE N-WORD DID REPRESENT HISTORICAN REALISM, THE N-WORD ALSO REPRESENTED THEIR SOCIAL CLASS....BUT NOT RIGHT NOW IN THIS NEW ERA BECAUSE AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE NOW TREATED WITH MORE RESPECT,,,,ESPECIALLY NOW THAT WE HAVE AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT.

Satire is the use of irony, sarcasm, and ridicule,,,,
for me satire means laughing or making fun of something,,,,
for instace, an example of sarcasm would be "oh, you've arrived exactly on time" when your actually fifteen minutes late to taht certain place,,,,so i see satire as a word that makes fun of someting or somebody,,, i think is really unfortunate how people show affective examples like the one above, and it may hurt the one reseving the joke,,,,some elements of satire would be to show evidence in a piece of writing or even verbaly that demostartes that the piece has sarcasm or irony in it.
